Hi! My name is Petra Ramirez and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Idaho.
We all have a journey we are on. When we are children, we don’t necessarily get to choose how that journey unfolds. Once we are old enough to choose what we want our life’s journey to be, we often find ourselves struggling to set a new path for ourselves because of the path we were set on as children. Talking to a counselor is often what helps us get started on our journey. I’d like to tell you a little bit about my journey and how I became a therapist so that you can feel confident in the work we will do together.
How I got started…
As a young woman I knew that I wanted more out of life then what I had seen growing up. I grew up in a turbulent home environment that spanned generations of dysfunction. Although, I can honestly say that the most important people in my life did the best they could. Their own unresolved trauma and generational dysfunction left a tainted imprint on me. I saw my first therapist at 18 years old and what unfolded was me finding wholeness, self-acceptance, and peace . . .something different than I had ever experienced as a child into adulthood. That freedom and space to know that I could change areas in my life that were affecting me negatively, sparked a desire in me to also provide that support and space for others.
Life happens…
My road to becoming a counselor was a long journey. I had my first child at 17 and then went on to marry the father of my child and high school sweetheart. We went on and had 5 more children, for a total of 6 kiddos! I started and stopped my higher education for about 20 years. During that time a lot of life happened – some really amazing stuff and some really difficult stuff – the kind that makes it hard-to-get-out-of-bed stuff. Although, the journey was long, I BELIEVE, that all life experiences can help us navigate to a place of wholeness, contentment, and peace.
I want to hold space for you to be able to feel what you need to feel and when you are ready, I will walk with you on your journey to wholeness, contentment, and peace.
As we help you along your journey, we will find those moments of joy and glimmers of hope too. I want to celebrate the good stuff with you too.
One of life’s ‘good stuff’ happened for me when I graduated from Northwest Nazarene University with a Master of Science and officially became a licensed counselor!
I’m ready to be a part of your journey!
I am honored to be part of your journey and help you process your life experiences to make sense of what is working and what needs adjustment. I often tell myself and others, “Our start does not have to determine our end!”
“Our start does not have to determine our end!”
Free time…
In my free time you’ll find me spending time with my family. I love to read, hike, learn new things and celebrate Christmas (I’m one of those who start in July)! But don’t worry, you don’t have to be Christmas enthusiast like I am for us to work well together.
What about you?
You don’t have to wait to feel contentment and peace. Let’s get started on your journey! I’m ready when you are.
