Hello! My name is Audrey Moore
and I am a therapist in training.
Currently, I have a bachelor’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am working towards my master’s in Clinical Mental Health and I am currently an intern. I passed my National Counseling Certification, which will allow me to be licensed in any state I choose. Once I graduate, I will be an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor). I have taken all the necessary courses to make me qualified to take on clients.
What inspired you to become a counselor?
I didn’t always know that I wanted to be a therapist, but once I started taking courses for my undergrad, it seemed to fit my personality just right. I have always enjoyed talking to people and discussing important matters. I took a class in my undergrad about families and helping couples and I knew almost immediately that I wanted to pursue the mental health field.
Where has your counseling career taken you so far?
Upon graduating with my bachelors degree, I started as a marriage and family coach. Being a coach is different from being a therapist. That difference is important. I wanted to be able to help people on a deeper level than what a coach is trained for. I decided to further my education and get a master’s in clinical mental health. Once I started my degree, I realized that therapists are actually held to a higher standard when it comes to ethical practice. I am so glad I have chosen this path and feel much more comfortable with the direction I am going.
How do you approach your counseling sessions?
If life had Dungeon and Dragon stats given to people, my highest stat would be insight! Basically, that means that I get people. I understand that there is a lot that makes up a person. I have thoroughly enjoyed everything that I have learned so far both in schooling and with clients and look forward to my continued growth. I have an open mind and am exploring new and different techniques for counseling. I don’t believe that there is a one-size-fits-all when it comes to a therapist-client relationship and I am flexible with my methods.
Outside the Therapy Office
I have been married for a little less than 10 years to my sweetheart
and best friend. We have two little boys and a little girl on the way. Together we enjoy playing games both on our PC’s and on tabletop. I already alluded to my nerdiness, but I very much enjoy Pathfinder and D&D. I also enjoy reading. My favorite author is Brandon Sanderson, who is practically the god of fantasy books. My family and I enjoy going on bike rides and going to the park together.
And now it is your decision!
I look forward to being a part of your growth in our counseling sessions!
